Sports Injuries

“Return to your sport and daily activities - injury and pain free in the shortest and safest time possible.”

“Pinpoint the problem with an accurate diagnosis”

“Goal orientated and multidisciplinary approach”

For both the competitive and casual sports person, returning you to your sport as soon as possible injury and pain free is our objective. Through both hands on examination and the assessment of posture, and walking/running pattern (biomechanics), we will aim to make a diagnosis. To help us pinpoint the problem, we have strong connections with local radiology centres should investigations be required – for both Xray, diagnostic ultrasound and MRI – appropriate referrals can be arranged. We work in a multidisciplinary practice with physiotherapists to help in all areas of your treatment.

An accurate diagnosis enables us to set a goal orientated rehab plan to get you back to sport and competition is the shortest and safest time possible. The key components to your rehab are:

  • Decreasing early inflammation and swelling
  • Offloading and supporting injured soft tissue (taping)
  • Offloading bone injury (splints and braces)
  • Treating biomechanical stress (insoles and orthoses)
  • Improving support and cushioning through correct sporting footwear
  • Strengthening and flexibility
  • Dry needling/acupuncture
  • Specialist shockwave ultrasound treatment for chronic tendon pain

The most common sporting injuries we see are:

  • Plantarfasciitis/heel pain/heel spur syndrome
  • Knee pain (patella tracking pain syndrome)
  • Arch strain
  • Stress fractures (foot and lower leg)
  • Ankle injuries
  • Achilles tendon pain
  • Shin and calf injuries
  • Forefoot pain (stress fracture or nerve pain/neuroma
